Inductee Luncheon at the Annual Conference


The Inductee Luncheon is a lunch and ceremony held at our annual conference to celebrate our enrolled and transferring member’s achievement of completing the registration process. In recognition of your achievement, your rate to attend the conference is discounted.  

The luncheon is similar to a graduation ceremony, complete with valedictorians. Friends and family are welcome to attend.


WHEN WILL I BE AN INDUCTEE?

Inductees and Valedictorians are determined by the ABCFP fiscal year which runs from December 1 to November 30.

Inductee Eligibility Requirements:

Members who have:

  1. completed all of their registration requirements within the fiscal year,

  2. or

  3. completed the following requirements by November 30th will be eligible to attend the next ceremony:
    • All of the six experience areas modules up to and including 6b,
    • All outstanding core competency requirements (ASFITs and ASTFTs only), an        
    • Must have completed a minimum of 18 months articling experience by November 30*.

*enrolled members who are within 6 months of completing the articling requirements are invited to attend the ceremony in February. Your designation will remain as a member in training until you complete the articling requirements and council has approved your new designation.



WHEN AND WHERE IS THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE?

The annual conference is held typically in February in a different city in BC each year.  Please see the chart below:

HOW DO I REGISTER?

LUNCHEON DRESS CODE: Business casual, please dress accordingly.

REGISTER YOURSELF:
Conference registration will be open in mid-September, please register on the conference website
All eligible Inductees can register to attend the 3-day conference or choose to attend the Friday-only package (which includes the Inductee luncheon).  Please select the registration option with "inductee". 
In addition, if you register early, there is also an early bird discount as well (which ends January 14th). If you have questions regarding the conference registration rate, please email Jennifer Lee.

REGISTER YOUR GUESTS: 
We encourage you to invite your friends and family to come celebrate your achievement! To attend they must register (as a guest) for the luncheon on the annual conference page of our website. In the 2020 Conference, the Inductees' Luncheon will happen on Friday February 7 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

SUBMIT YOUR PHOTO: During the Luncheon, we will be running a PowerPoint presentation which includes your name and your sponsor. We would like the presentation to include your picture. If you would like your picture to be included in the presentation, please send your photo to: jlee@abcfp.ca by January 15th.

INDUCTEE FAQS

1a. I completed my registration requirements between December 1 and the date of the upcoming AGM. Why can't I be inducted?
The ABCFP fiscal year runs from December 1 to November 30. All annual reporting is based on these dates.
We need the months leading up to the AGM to prepare our reports. If you were to attend, we are unable to count you in any of the reports.

1b. But I live near the location of the conference, can you make an exception?
If you reside in close proximity to the location of the conference, you and your guests may attend the ceremony if you prefer, however we will not be able to include you in any of the reporting.
Note that by attending, you will not be considered for Valedictorian for the following year. You must contact the registration department to request an exception.

2. Who can be a Valedictorian?
Valedictorians are based on the highest combined average passing mark on the first attempt of all three exam modules (1b, 4b, and 4d).
All enrolled members who meet the eligibility requirements to be inducted at the ceremony, noted above, will be considered.

3. I'm eligible to be inducted this year, however I cannot attend. Can I attend next year?
Yes, you may attend the following year, however you will not be included in any of the reporting and you will not be considered for Valedictorian. You must contact the registration department to request a deferral.

4. I was unable to attend the ceremony in my year of eligibility.  Can I attend this year?
If you were unable to attend in the year of your eligibility, you may ask to be included in a subsequent year permitted there is space. 
Note, if you attend you will not be included in any of the reporting and you will not be considered for Valedictorian.
You must contact the registration department to request a deferral.
